Leo-Thomas Brylowski,
Korean-to-English translator

Leo-Thomas Brylowski is a professional translator and copy editor based in Seoul. He holds a BA from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Korean language and culture and has completed the two-year fellowship program at the Literature Translation Institute of Korea (LTIK).

 

He currently works with a range of clients across the arts, culture, and creative sectors including the National Museum of Korea, the Korea Foundation, the Literature Translation Institute of Korea, the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea, and Lezhin Comics, among others. His translations frequently appear in a number of periodical publications such as Koreana, the leading magazine on Korean arts and culture, and Korean Literature Now, the world's only English-language magazine exclusively dedicated to Korean literature.

Leo-Thomas won the Grand Prize at the 2019 Modern Korean Literature Translation Awards for his translation of a short story by prominent author Lee Kiho, is the recipient of a LTIK translation grant, and a co-translator of Human Time (2023), the first English-language poetry collection of Kim Haengsook, one of South Korea's foremost poets.
